Mates 4x4 started in a Pakenham garage with one goal: give South East Melbourne's 4x4 community access to the best gear, fitted by people who actually use it.
From the garage to the showroom
Mates 4x4 started in 2019 after years of working in the ute canopy industry, and quickly grew into something bigger — because word spreads fast when the work is good.
Today we operate out of our dedicated workshop and showroom on Foxtrot Lane in Pakenham, with a team of passionate 4x4 enthusiasts who live and breathe the lifestyle. We've fitted hundreds of canopies, drawer systems and roof racks accessories across every major ute on the market.
We're authorised dealers for Maxliner Venture canopies, Neway Drawers, ALTIQ lighting, myCOOLMAN fridges and Yakima awnings — brands we chose because we trust them, not because of the margins.

How we got here
Our journey
- 2019
Mates 4x4 founded in Pakenham, fitting canopies and UTE tray bodies.
- 2020
Moved into our dedicated workshop on Commercial Drive expanding the team to three.
- 2022
Became an authorised Neway Drawers dealer.
- 2024
Expanded the showroom and added myCOOLMAN fridges and Altiq LED lighs.
- 2026
Now fitting over 200 canopies per year, serving customers across South East Melbourne and beyond.
